Little did I know when I 5 months ago when looking for a used Nikon D750 to replace my D800 that I would go the mirrorles route instead. There was no immediate D750 to get hold of so I bought a Z6 instead to complement my D500.
Fast forward and I’ve now sold all my DSLR bodies and today I got my first dedicated Z lens; the Nikkor 24-70 2.8 S.
I traded in my 24-70 2.8E VR and the difference was startling to say the least; the sharpness is considerably better, the lens is also shorter and lighter.
Here are the first test shots; taken a mere 20 minutes after obtaining the lens.
Beautiful images and congratulations on the powerful S lens and Z body. Looks like that lens does great close ups too. Thanks for the link from DPR.

Thank you very much Ernie! – Yes if it one thing that dissapointed me with the E it was its Close focus softness.
